As a business owner I hate the fact that my accounts are always out of date and it’s such a chore to update them at the end of the month and get them ready for the VAT return. I started to look for a better way.

Bank Statement Import

I waist so much time reconciling my bank statements. Now with free agent, I logged onto my bank, downloaded a csv file of my bank transactions and uploaded it to free agent. 5 clicks and FreeAgent started to auto match ever entry with bills and invoices. When it was not sure it would ask for a conformation and then it would lean for next time.

90% of my transactions now get matched automatically.

And that’s not all the next update of FreeAgent in a month or so will auto download my bank statements, credit card statements and paypal statements automatically. WOW

Because my bank statements are now imported the exact profits and tax to pay both vat and corporation tax are calculated in real time and displayed in real time. Take a look at this.

I have never seen this in an accounts package before. You know how you have those customer projects and you would love to know how much expenses, mileages, and time you spent on that project so you could really see for just that project if it was profitable or not?

Image Resizer for Windows

Now here is an easy way that any one even with no graphics knowledge can use to compress those over sized image down to size with just a right click and your done!

After installing Image Resizer for Windows. Find the large image or images on your hard drive and right click to see the context menu. Select resize pictures.

I recomend selecting the

• 1366 x 768 size
• only shrink pictures options

This should results in the ideal size to upload to WordPress and then WordPress will take over and create 3 other sizes that is uses for perfect web quality fast loading images.

More often these days you will do a quick search on Google. Some times you get lucky other it can be very frustrating. You find businesses that can supply what you want, but they can be anywhere. Do you wish Google would only show the ones near to you. Like to old Yellow pages use to?

Google has released a free local directory that very few business even know exist.

Look at this example below. Enter the search "pizza huntingdon" into Google.

See the map showing 3 local pizza restaurants in Huntingdon right at the top of Google’s search results. It’s just like using the yellow pages but better!

Do you know you can list your self in Google’s local directory for free?

Go to http://local.google.co.uk and click the link Add/Edit Your Business on the bottom left. Fill in your company details, list up to 5 categories you want to be found for, bit like the old Yellow pages, and that’s it. Google will send you a letter in the post to confirm that your who you say you are and then you will be listed at the top of Google in about 6 weeks!
